في اليونانية : فوينيقي سيريا. الجزء الشمالي من مقاطعة سورية الرومانية (الجزء الجنوبي هو سورية الجوفاء) التي تكوّنت سنة 194 ب.م. يذكر مر 7 :26 السورية الفينيقية، وهي وثنيّة شفى يسوع ابنتها، ويسمّيها مت 15 :22 : "الكنعانيّة".
